Cherokee Oklahoma, is in the heart of the historical land of Oklahoma. The inn is owned and operated by Lon and Karen Hawkins who both grew up in the area during the 50's and 60's

Lon is a Navy Pilot Veteran of the Vietnam War who then spent 20 years as a commercial pilot for the Delta Airline. Karen helped raise two children, is presently the Mayor of Cherokee and has always been active in public service.

After retirement, they resurrected two buildings that became the Cherokee Inn and Steakhouse. They both have a compassion to be of service to others and to bring comfort and safety to the guest, who frequent there.

Their Motto has been,

Oh, Let me live in a house

By the side of the road

and be a friend

to man.
